A Shore Thing #7
For my over all evaluation of A Shore Thing by none other then America's #1 sweet heart, Nicole Snooki Polizzi, I would have to give the book an A-. Yes, I love Snooks and how funny and sarcastic she is, but lets face it, she isn't a writer. Over all I though the book was well organized, but didn't exactally follow an exact story line, with a problem. Her biggest problem was finding the biggest, tannest, funnest, guido, juicehead, gorilla in all of Seaside Heights. Lets face the biggest fact about this book: Snooki didn't write it! Or at least she didn't write most of it. Some of the words were bigger then her pouf, so it was obvious girl had some help. However, I did learn l few things from this book. Those being: sluts from your past who hated you will always want you dead (figuratively speaking). When finding the right man, you cant always get the biggest, sexiest and most intelligent juicehead because chances are the steroids he used to bulk his arms probably deflated the size of his already abnormally small brain, as well as his jewels. Lastly is that you can never use too much aqua net to fortify your clubbing hair. After all, a pouf just isn''t a pouf without all that gravity defying volume. Who really cares about global warming anyway. In the words of Gia "I like global warming, warmer weather, less cloths..... blah blah blah." So basically A Shore Thing is a fun book to read when you are in the mood for something light hearted, and heart warming....... kinda.

A Shore Thing #6
I would choose the scene from Chapter 6 of A Shore Thing entitled "No Hug" that would work well for a scene in a movie. Gia, Bella and Bender have just arrived at Neli's shore house for a 4th of July party. Gia had previously meet Neil at Tantastic, the tanning salon where she works. He had come in to get a nice tan before his party so he wouldn't be so pasty.
Gia is looking all ver for him at the party, asking people "where is Neil?" Finally someone tells her "he's upstairs in his room. Poor guy." She can't really figure out what the poor guy part was about, she brushes it off and goes up to find Neil in the second floor.
She looks in every door, accidently disturbing a few couples who were basically gettin' it on. Finally she gets to the last room only to find a blistered, lobsterfied, red as can be Neil laying in bed with nothing on but a face of pain and anguish.
He explains to her that after he had tanned at tantastic, he was anxious to get better results so he went home and sat out on his roof deck for the rest of the day until sunset, and by the next day he was like communist China.
Gia feels upset that Neil is in so much pain she wants to kiss him, but soon realizes that she is only making this worse for Neil, as her dangerous good looks are making him a very happy of a boy which hurt his man parts considering he liked to tan naked.
Neil wont even let Gia hug him to say goodbye because it phisically and emotionally pains him so bad when he releals to her that he is leaving the shore since his room mates will no longer take care of him, and he wont be able enjoy his time now that he is burnt chrispy from head to.... toe.
That is where the scene ends.
I enjoyed reading this scene, it was sad and humorious at the same time, and tragic because we can all (some what) relate to Neil with the sunburn form hell, even though most of us tan with at least a swimsuit on, and it just f**** up our vacation.

A Shore Thing post # 5
Snookie "Gia" addresses problems such as finding the perfect gorilla juice head to complete her life which is a problem that Snooki faces in real life.As well as dealing with her bestfriend's obnoxiously pompus boyfriend, try to nail down the perfect Summer job, getting her pouf to stay perfect during those humid summer nights. Basically Snooki adresses problems that she faces in her own life and and has Gia work them out in a some what idealic manner in the book.
Some questions I might ask to a person who is reading this book are: Why cant Bella see Bender's true colors starting to appear like Gia can? What previous boyfriend drama did she leave behind in New York before coming to the Shore?
What is Gia's prefered choice of hair spray?
What is the name of the tanning salon where Gia gets a job?
Do you think Gia and Neil have a second chance at love and become reunited by the end of the Summer and the book? Why or why not?
My prediction for Gia and Neil's relationship status by the end of the book is together and facebook official. I think that Snookie whouln't have gone to all the trouble of creating the character of Neil to the book if he wasn't suppose to make another appearence in the book, and because Snookie and Gia are typical hopeless romantics, and Neil's character is generally a sweet guy, I would think it would be crazy for them not to get back together.

A Shore Thing# 4
An Unshore Thing:
Gia was an ugly pale girl who hated doing anything with her hair. Her cousin Bella was fat and hated to work out and DID NOT, under any curcomstances listent to club music and fist pump. After all that would be just tacky. Both girls were dull as door nails and didn't really care too much about going anywhere for the summer because, lets face it, only obnoxious guidoos do that, and both Gia and Bella were very white, as I said and very blond.
When the girls felt like being spontanious one day, they agreed on taking a day long trip to the public library to read. And read some more. Because books make you smart and stuff. They hopped into Gia's 97' Taurus and drove away, abiding every speed limit, and all of the right of way laws.
Once at the North Dakota Public Library they decided to check out a lot of books and read them all day. When that got too stimulating they decided to get some fresh air outside. They came across two very well behaved, outstanding citizens. They were males named Wallace, Wally for short, and Michael. Gia proclaimed she had dibbs on Wally and that was okay with Bella because she liked Michael's pocket protector.
Soon, but not too soon, the girls started to fall for their men. But not in love because that would be recklace.
When Gia got her braces off, she soon realized she was much more of a babe. Even Bella started making strides in the more attractive direction. She started taking jazzersize classes at her local gymn where she stumbled across a forigen thing. A TANNING BED.

A Shore Thing: Blog #3
I look hot. Snooki would be proud. Yeah I'm not rocking the pouf, but I did use a little curl sculpting gel to perfect my curls. And how about that prom ready fake tan?
YEAH! What she said.... Snooks loves herself some hair spray to create that georgous fashion history creating do, and Aqua Net is the brand that she cites in the book as being her go to product. Who can blame her? My grandma uses it to keep her bee hive inspired hairdo tamed. But really, do you think Snookie can be tamed in any other way besides her hair? Oh, wow. Thats a shame. Someone clearly didn't exfoliate before mystic tanning. Snookie would definatly laugh at this tragic pumpkin. Lookin' freaking hot and pointing to her pouf of corse. Who wouldn't want to be like this guidet?

A Shore Thing: Blog #2
Gia Spumanti is all about style so it's no surprise that the novel opens "Life is heard. But a pouf? That should be easy. Giovanna "Gia" Spumanti was a hair-raising pro. She'd been banging out poufs since age eleven, or as soon as her fingers were long enough to get around a bottle of Deluxe Aqua Net."
This is significant to the novel because it sets the tone for what kind of character Gia is, and that is a somewhat accident prone, hopeless romantic, over the top style obsessed woman.
So far the novel is told by the narrator (Snooki).
My first impressions of the book are that I think it is light hearted, fun, a twist from a lot of the other books I read for school or on my own.
Gia's and Bella's story is worth being told because it's basically the story of Snooki, and Jenni (JWOWW of the Jersey Shore fame) seeing themselves in this ideal light, that even if the Jersey Shore had never happened they would still be together, snookin' for love at the shore and running into funny situations along the way.

Snookin for love is "A Shore Thing"
A few moths ago I found out that none other then the incredibly insightful Nicole "Snooki"Polizzi had managed to publish her own book. Even more astonishing, book became a New York Times Best Seller. Say what? Because I follow Snooki on the twitter I saw her tweet thanking everyone for her books success. But it is not like she actually wrote it herself. Lets be honest here. However I am a "Team Snooki" supporter and have been looking for a valid reason, as many have found already to buy and read the book, and now I can justify it to my mom to have her buy it for me!
The books cover features Snooki from the overly mascaraed, fake eye lashed eyes up and of corse Snook's infamous hair poof which are staples in the Snook look. Everything about the novel from its appearance and subject matter cater to the younger crowd. However I think that this book could be for anyone looking to just have a nice light hearted read about two hopeless romantic brads lookin' for love during they're Summer at the Shore.

The reserection of Touchdown Jesus.
The Solid Rock Church in Monroe will begin building a replacement statue in May for the ever so infamous King of Kings (better known as) 'Touchdown, Big Butter, or Quick Sand Jesus' statue which burnt down last June after being struck by lighting. It seemed Jesus himself was trying to send a message of his opinion of the $250,00, gaudy masterpiece, origionally constructed in in 2004 by reducing it to nothing but ashes and its iron frame.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all about praising Jesus, but REALLY? Jesus would want you to put that money to better use! Like charity! There are PLENTY of people in the world who are in dire need of money, and this is what they are spending it on. Clearly this poses a very big question about what is wrong with society.
The new Jesus statue will feature a standing Jesus with arms outstretched to welcome all into the Solid Rock Church....

Film review: Despicable Me
Personally, I would not only recommend this film based on it's plot, but also because of the amazing animation. The plot its self is precious. It's obvious that the younger characters tend to steal Gru, who is never the less played brilliantly by Carell's (who managed the perfect German, French, British (indistinguishable) accent through the entire film (perfect for a super villain) thunder. This is a movie that is suitable for the entire family, even grandma and grandpa. This proved proved to me that your never too old to enjoy cartoons. I would highly recommend this movie.

SRP Progress
I am happy to report that I am currenrtly less stressed out about the Senior Research Paper.
Last night I finished the rest of Ellen Foster and my book notes and undelining. I know it helped me to read activally which helped me to understood main concepts and symbols from the novel.
My book was also an easy read and a topic I enjoyed reading about which really helped since I tend to slack off and become unintrested when it comes to reading the schools's required reading.
Today Mr. Wiseman finished reviewing the packet for our outline. I think it helps that we only have to start out by compleating half of the outline by the 24th, with the rest being dure the 31st.
I know my opinion will probably change in the near future about the paper, but at least everything is smooth sailing as of right now.

2010 Realizations
I would say that the most important person of 2010, for me was my Grandpa or Papa as us grandkids liked to call him. Only a week into Summer vacation my grandfater died after a 2 and a half year battle of illness. It was very hard on our entire family. Eariler in the year my uncle's family and ours clashed over a difference of opinion about posting "private family buisness" on facebook.
I wish I were making that up, but it's the truth.
Bitter words were exchanged and the fude only weakened my grandfater's health, in my opinion.
I wish I could say that we all came together as a stronger family in the wake of what had happened, but that didn't happen.
However, my mom, dad, and sister; Jenny have become closer as a unit. Jenny and I have made promices to one another that when we are adults, we will never let the same petty problems come between our family's. That is the best way that Jenny and I can honor our grandpa at this point in time.
